Many of our Florida elders are unduly stressed and suffering today. As our governor proclaims his mandate for additional budgetary cuts, we are seeing a dramatic rise in the need for assistance. Many no longer drive as they can not afford the gas required and are unable to afford taxi fare or other public transportation. Faced with soaring prices for basic foods, they have already cut back to the point of experiencing substandard nutrition which aggravates conditions brought on by skimping on high-priced prescriptions. ...more

Greater than the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the United States is suffering from external invasion and internal treason. Our very survival is at stake. I speak of our petroleum catastrophe. In essence, the Congress of the United States must pass the following laws: No petroleum pumped in the United States or its territories may be sold to any other countries. Owners of oil wells not pumping to capacity will be fined. All drilling restrictions will be abolished immediately. Incentive is offered for drilling new oil wells. The price per barrel of oil will be established at $50 (this includes imported oil. If they don't sell at this price, we don't buy.) ...more

When gas pushed past $3 a gallon, we all raised our eyebrows, sweated a little bit but went about our business. When it crossed $3.50 a gallon, we cursed the oil companies, blamed the Iraq War and waited for prices to drop. Now, at $4 a gallon and above, conserving gas has become serious business for most Americans. Adjusting to high gas prices is no longer an inconvenience; it's a reality that motorists now realize may never change, only get worse. During an interview with Pasco County Public Transportation Community Services Director Adelaida "Adie" Reyes and Transportation Manager Mike Carroll about the growing use of PCPT buses, Suncoast News report Klint Lowry asked what sort of marketing tools they use to promote thei service. "I'd say our best promoters are the people who are using our service," Reyes said. "If we are reliable, they will come back." So Lowry decided to take a ride. ...more
