Carol Faessler and Darcy Hermida have a novel idea on tap. The partners are gearing up for the Nov. 6 grand opening of Bootleggers, where customers can handcraft wine, beer, liquor and soda to their own taste, "at a fraction of the cost," Hermida said. The shop provides home-brewing supplies for hobbyists and offers classes for wanna-be bootleggers. Brew parties are available after hours by appointment. AVON PARK — Golf is the major recreational sport in the Heartland, and with that in mind, River Greens Golf Course professional Jason Beatty has come up with a novel idea. A couples golf league. "There are a lot of leagues in the area for men and a lot of leagues for women, but I thought we would start a league that would give couples a chance to play golf together," Beatty said. "Instead of golf separating people, it would give them a chance to play their favorite sport and spend quality time with each other on and off the course."
