SEBRING — Time to run. The boys and girls cross country teams from the Heartland compete today and Friday in the Class 3A district meets. Avon Park and Sebring run today in the District 5 meet at Lake Park in Tampa, while Lake Placid runs on Friday at the District 6 meet in Naples. Only the top six teams advance to next Saturday's regional competition in Estero, and Avon Park's boys squad has the talent and desire to be one of those teams. ...more

The HT3 Outdoors' Team Open Bass Tournament came to Lake Kissimmee Chain of lakes and launched out of Camp Mack River Resort located on the Kissimmee river canal between Lake Hatchineha and Lake Kissimmee. Thirty-eight teams participated in the event which featured a different format and option of teams using two boats instead of the usual one boat. Also, the limit was extended to six bass any size - if teams used two boats each angler's limitation was three bass to be combined with his team mate at the scales to be weighed in together. ...more

LAKE WALES — The Reel'em In for Rotary Charity Bass Tournament 2007 sponsored by the Lake Wales Breakfast Rotary was held on Lake Kissimmee last Saturday. Camp Mack Resort hosted the event that launched at safelight and weighed in at 2:30 p.m. Thirty teams participated in the Bass tournament event conducted by tournament director, Nigel Hill of Lake Wales. ...more

Strange happening on the Florida A&M campus this week. Albert Chester II, the Rattlers' starting quarterback the past 2 1/2 seasons, quit the team, ostensibly because of injuries. The tone and manner in which Chester left, however, suggests there could be more to the story. ...more

Since the Full Moon was a week ago and today marks the last quarter moon phase, which occurs at 10:06 a.m., the "Very Early Morning Bite" is "On" in a huge way. The sooner you get out on the lake the sooner you'll be landing your favorite fish. Wyatt Riled Over Ruling Formation Was Illegal It doesn't take much to get Bethune-Cookman coach Alvin Wyatt riled up, and he's still plenty riled up after last week's 38-31 loss to Norfolk State University.
