Each month, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 139 sends 25 CARE boxes to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The American Legion, SAL and Auxiliary Post 139 pack and prepare the boxes and pay the postage. I want to bring to the attention of Hillsborough County a source of waste. The sheriff's office opened a child-care center on the Falkenburg jail site. This project was nine years coming to fruition. They did a great job. It was, and is, a beautiful center. They filled it with top-of-the-line furniture, toys and supplies. They hired a company to run the center, which was to benefit sheriff's employees. ...more
