This is in reference to Mr. Gulledge's letter of Dec.12 about Halliburton setting the price of oil. Mr. Gulledge is absolutely correct. Halliburton has nothing to do about pricing oil; they only pump the oil. Mr. Streeter is dead wrong about Halliburton setting the price of oil. I'm positive the Arabs wouldn't have an American company tell them what they can charge for oil. ...more

In response to Mr. Streeter's recent letter, I do not believe that Halliburton sets the price of oil. I believe the oil cartel does that. The reason that Halliburton pumps the oil is that they are the most qualified company in the Mideast to do so. If President Bush had not sent our troops to Iraq, Saddam would still be in power, raping and killing his own people, as he had done for many years. In addition, he would be ever more dangerous. I thought that price gouging was supposed to be illegal? The price of oil is set by Halliburton, and the rest of the oil cartel, not by the Iraqis, or Saudi Arabia. So why hasn't our elected officials done anything to stop this fleecing of the people? Or are they all bought off by the oil cartel to look the other way? That's just another example of greed and corruption within free enterprise. This is why I am voting all incumbents out of office. Mr. Streeter's latest tirade against President Bush is, like his previous ones, utter nonsense. This country is not provoking Iran. It is they who are doing the provoking. They are the ones who are killing Americans every day. I have never heard of American roadside bombs killing Iranians. Why does Iran need nuclear weapons? If we are paying $90 a barrel for oil, it seems to me that we are doing a lousy job of "controlling and stealing" it. ...more
