I read in the edition of July 25 how the county administration is unsure where to cut the budget to relieve the "gap." How about this: Let's start at the top and work our way down! Instead of cutting pay to the lower paid employees give the top administrators and department heads a 10 percent cut. ...more

Last Friday, the Pasco County Commission began reviewing the county's proposed budget for fiscal 2010. With the collapse of the Florida real estate-housing sector, on top of the nationwide economic slowdown, the county's projected revenue could fall about $37 million short of the planned spending in the $900 million-plus budget. Commissioners have received a list of proposed spending cuts meant to close the budget gap.
