On Nov. 11, we attended a Veterans Day remembrance at the Lake Placid Christian School on Interlake Boulevard. We thank Headmaster Dennis Griffin and the faculty for letting us attend. We were impressed with the students and the ceremony, all the students and faculty gathered around the flag pole. The flag was raised by two students. The Pledge of Allegiance with proper salute was recited by all. Rev. DeHart lead us in prayer and gave a little talk on a friend of his who was in the war. One of the students gave a speech on what Veterans Day means to us and how we should honor our veterans. It was a very simple and meaningful ceremony. It was our privilege and pleasure to see and hear the youth of today remember this Veterans Day. Also in attendance was Charles Krueger, past commander, and Suzanne Krueger, patriotic instructor from the VFW 3880 in Lake Placid. ...more

SEBRING – There seems to be quite a bit of commercial office space available in the area, but not at the refurbished Wachovia Bank building in Sebring. Nearly all of the space in the 32,840 square-foot building located next to Burger King has been leased. That's good news for Jimmy and Jeri Wohl and Martha and David Hatch. The couples, who are partners in 3200 Properties LLC, took ownership of the building last August. "We're just real happy to be about full not even a year into ownership," David Hatch said. The two couples have spent several thousand dollars on the building, which was built in 1998 by Thomas Wohl and had damage on the third and fourth floors from Hurricane Charley in 2004. ...more
