The Pasco County School District is working out a plan to set things right after an audit showed 43 employees have been either paid too much or too little over the years. Some of the errors date back to the 1980s. The total amount overpaid to 17 employees was $120,398. The total amount underpaid to 26 employees was $143,866. The district has about 10,000 employees. In most cases, the pay mistakes happened because the employees were given credit for too much or too little experience when they were hired or when they moved to a different position. A member of our board of directors, who is also an officer, is more than a year past due in maintenance payments and assessments. Should this person be allowed to remain on the board? I thought not, and asked for the person to resign, but the request was refused. The other board members are not aware of the serious delinquency because the officer has not told them. ...more

Tampa Housing Authority commissioner Karen Peoples responded angrily this morning to a Tampa Tribune report that she is being evicted for violating federal housing guidelines.
