Regarding "Official: Few At FSU Cheated" (Metro, Dec. 20): Something must be wrong with me. I can't seem to get excited about the news that some athlete-students at Florida State University cheated on an online music history course. Why an athlete needs to know anything about music history in the first place baffles me. Why not just let athletes be athletes, music students can study music history, and the other students can study subjects relevant to their major? After all, the athletes are only there to provide entertainment for the alumni, make money for the school, and allow the coaches to live the high life with their huge salaries. When I first heard about the idea of a baseball league forming for individuals with disabilities, I felt compelled to find out more about it. I have two brothers-in-law who could benefit greatly from this league. I purely went to see about the who, what, where and whens. After that first meeting, I decided to volunteer to coach. This was my way of helping out. A few weeks later, I was part of the board of directors.
