On Tuesday, Council voted 4-1 to approve a temporary contract that would bring back Tom O'Neill as city manager during the search for a permanent replacement.
He will resume duties effective immediately.
The contract provides O'Neill with his former annual base salary of $109,720, employee group health insurance, use of the city vehicle assigned to that position and the reinstatement of his accumulated sick leave during his previous employment, according to the meeting's memorandum.
Councilwoman Ginny Miller accounted for the lone nay vote, citing that she would prefer to see O'Neill rehired contractually instead of approving a full-time deal.
Following the vote, Sutton was praised for his work done during three interim months at the post. He is also Personnel Director in the Department of Human Resources.
