Estranged husband held without bail in Pasco double slaying

DADE CITY - After the argument, sheriff's deputies say, Michael McAdams left his estranged wife's home on Palomino Lake Drive, but then changed his mind.

He retrieved a handgun from beneath a metal milk pot on the front porch and went back inside, according to deputies. There, he confronted his wife's boyfriend, William "Ryan" Andrews.

Deputies say McAdams shot at Andrews but missed, then chased him through the kitchen toward the back door, firing multiple times and killing him. He then shot his wife, Lynda, Pasco County sheriff's deputies say.

On Saturday, almost a week after the slayings, investigators with shovels began exhuming two bodies buried in woods near Peaceful Avenue and Hurricane Drive in Spring Hill in Hernando County. The site is a few miles east of U.S. 19 in an area where residents say children frequently ride all-terrain vehicles.

Michael McAdams, 47, of Spring Hill, remained in the Land O' Lakes Jail. He is being held without bail on two counts of first-degree murder.

The McAdamses were separated and in the process of getting a divorce after more than 20 years of marriage, authorities said.

Lynda McAdams, 46, and Andrews, 37, of New Port Richey, were co-workers at Bic Graphics in St. Petersburg.

Clayton Andrews said his older brother had described Lynda McAdams as his girlfriend, though he had not introduced her to the family.

Andrews said he last saw his brother Oct. 17, when the siblings spent the day bass fishing with their father on the Withlacoochee River. The trip was to celebrate their father's birthday.

"Ryan caught a 3 1/2-pound bass. Dad landed a 7-pound bass," Clayton Andrews said. "I got skunked."

Andrews said his family is awaiting more information about his brother's death.

"We're all being as strong as we can," he said.

Ryan Andrews and Lynda McAdams were shot to death sometime after 10 p.m. Oct. 18, authorities say. Family and friends reported them missing after they failed to show up for work Monday.

On Wednesday, deputies searched the Palomino Lake home and found blood on the walls, floor, porch landing and on clothing. The next day, detectives found a pair of jean shorts with apparent blood stains and ammunition at the home of Michael McAdams, who is a carpenter, an affidavit states.

Investigators say that before his arrest on Friday, McAdams led them to where he buried the bodies.

Early Saturday, investigators cordoned off an area about the size of a soccer field and began the grim task of digging.

"It's very meticulous and tedious work," said Pasco sheriff's Lt. John Corbin.
