Working today
Editor:
I am writing a response to the Window on Pasco item in your Nov. 7 editions that there will be no Pasco County Public Transportation bus service today, Wednesday, which is Veterans Day. You know what, there are many workers out there who are not off and need to get to work. How do they get there? On PCPT buses. How do they get home? PCPT.
My husband, a veteran looking for a job, goes from place to place by bus and walking. The appointments he had Nov. 11, will have to be canceled, as he cannot get there. Again, not everyone is off, and I am also working.
As I said, he is not alone. We have one car and I need it to get to work. I pass bus stops going to and from work with people waiting for buses to get and come home from work. What are they supposed to do on Veterans Day, beg for a ride or stay home and not get paid? No other city in the United States takes their buses off the road on a holiday. Run on a holiday schedule, yes, but they run. Pasco County elected not to run their buses.
We are going through a fare increase but are receiving less service. This is sad.

Common sense lacking
Editor:
The shootings at Fort Hood, Texas, and in Orlando showed how inexperienced reporters are. Some of the questions they asked over and over call for common-sense answers. Both incidents had just happened and the authorities could not and would not respond to questions about an ongoing investigation.
It is a shame that these reporters were looking for air time and headlines at any cost. Reporters should be trained as to how to conduct a question-and-answer game for various types of conditions. They need to give the authorities time to conduct the necessary investigation without interruptions.

Know-nothings
Editor:
I read online with disbelief your story about Tarpon Springs Mayor Beverley Billiris having the City Commission adopt a resolution criticizing Turkey for its "continuing military occupation" of Northern Cyprus. The leaders of the Greek and Turkish communities on Cyprus are trying to find a solution to the 35-year dispute. Local politicians should stick to local issues and not try to interfere in matters they know nothing about.
