NEW PORT RICHEY - A 50-year-old man is accused of beating his 78-year-old mother with two lamps.
Gregory John Gibson, of 6301 Limerick Ave., was arrested Monday night and faces a charge of domestic aggravated battery of a person over 65.
Ruth Gibson told deputies her son had been drinking all day when he suddenly hit her over the head with a lamp. He then chased her from the living room into her bedroom and broke a ceramic lamp over her, Pasco County sheriff's reports state.
When deputies arrived, Ruth Gibson was bleeding from two cuts on her head and had a large bruise on her left shoulder, reports state. Gregory Gibson was bleeding from the nose but it wasn't clear how he was injured.
Ruth Gibson was taken to a local hospital where she "stopped breathing and was brought back to life by staff," the reports state. Her condition wasn't available today.
Gregory Gibson was being held at the Land O' Lakes Jail with bail set at $10,000.
