I am sorry that Henry "Bud" Berolzheimer has had less than a favorable experience with his medical care, which he related in his May 23 letter to the editor. My husband and I are in his 80-plus age bracket and we couldn't be happier.
We feel blessed to have a good doctor, as well as all the benefits we receive. We have been members of the Humana Medicare HMO for the last 15 years. We have had the same primary-care physician, Dr. Prakash Machhar of New Port Richey. He and his staff are like family to us. He is never too busy to explain a diagnosis or tests and procedures. He is not hesitant to order referrals to specialists when necessary and he involves us in decision making.
Our premiums are zero, office calls are zero and most of our medicine costs us nothing. We have friends in Canada who would give anything to be in such a program. I have a bachelor of science degree in nursing so I know what good care is.
Many of our friends who are in the same HMO are as happy as we are. Come and join us, Mr. Berolzheimer.
