Gala raises $62,000 for clinic

NEW PORT RICHEY - The recession has left more needy people desperate for medical care, so the Good Samaritan Health Clinic will put $62,000 from a recent fundraiser to good use to help the indigent.

The Nurses Gala on May 8 benefited the clinic while recognizing Nurse of the Year in four categories from 18 nominees, Melissa Fahy, Good Samaritan CEO, explained.

The winners are registered nurses Marcia Hanshaw, Jessica Hollingsworth, Regina Mirabella and Lola Pollack.

Presenting the awards was Dr. Rao Musunuru, a Good Samaritan board member and external relations committee chair.

Others nominees were Harry Charvat, Francis Pallo, Bobbi Altman, June Cunningham, Karen Simpson, Carolanne Biakowski, Diana Vanhousen, Sharon Brown, Terri Coakley, Joy Cook, Cindi Cramer, Kelly Louwart, MaryAnn Swiehart and Migna Vega.
