Op-ed page columnist Tom Jackson, who supports oil and gas drilling near the Florida coastline, needs to get real and look around. What more natural resources does Florida need than its wind and sunshine?
We should take the billions that would be invested in this offshore ugliness and spend it instead on wind and solar generators. If we did we'd be in power heaven within five years, not the 10 or more required to realize the first drop of gasoline needed to fuel our, by then, antique cars.
Jackson and his petroleum-soaked cohorts need to stand outside and soak up some rays and feel the nice breeze. He's too young to bury his head in the sand – or the gulf.
