TUESDAY:
Softball: Wiregrass Ranch at Gulf – 7 p.m.
Pasco and Zephyrhills have virtually sewn up the top two Class 4A, District 8 seedings, but this game will help decipher how spots 3-7 fall into place. With a 7-7 district record, Gulf currently sits in sixth place. The Buccaneers' previous meeting with Wiregrass Ranch ended in an 11-10 defeat. A Bulls win guarantees a fourth-place finish at worst.
WEDNESDAY:
Softball: Pasco at River Ridge – 7 p.m.
This is one of the premier Sunshine Athletic Conference matchups. River Ridge (16-4) has lost only once at home this season and Pasco (16-1) has been bested just once overall. Both teams are potent on offense and possess pitching staffs that can be lockdown, as well.
Softball: Mitchell at Sunlake – 7 p.m.
At 12-7 overall, Sunlake has been up and down all year long. The Seahawks have the potential to beat very good teams, (see their March 3, 7-6 win over Zephyrhills), but they still lack big-game consistency. Mitchell (13-5) offers Sunlake its latest opportunity to topple one of the North Suncoast's strongest squads.
FRIDAY:
Baseball: Mitchell at Land O' Lakes – 7 p.m.
The best game of the week is on the Land O' Lakes baseball diamond Friday evening. Mitchell (12-3) should be seething after its let-down loss at St. Petersburg High after beating rival Alonso three days prior. Friday should see staff aces Patrick Schuster (Mitchell) and Jason Garcia (LOL) battling on the mound.
