Around December 2007, the New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Department opened its first dog park, at Meadows Park. In the past several months it has become popular to many members of the community, both canine and human. We have developed a core group, some of which come in the morning, some in the afternoon. It's a good way to catch up with friends and let the dogs run off some energy.
I want to thank the New Port Richey City Council and Parks and Recreation Director Elaine Smith for giving consideration to their dog-owning constituents and those of us in the surrounding community by creating the dog park. My dogs and I use it often and want to let them know we appreciate it.
