What a seer former Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev was. In the early 1960s he stated, "One day America will wake-up and wonder how it became socialist."
Is socialism better? Let's look. Should it be of the future of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenbery, in which we all live in peace, with our only concern being self-improvement? That would be great. Should it be Stalinism-Maoism, in which government reigns supreme and discontent and protest is greeted with execution or imprisonment without due recourse? That would be a great big leap backward for freedom and personal liberty, both cornerstones of America.
Should socialism of the worst sort take over, certain changes in life style would be inevitable. Lawyers, journalists, insurance, accountants and bankers would become obsolete professions with the state controlling everything from birth to death.
The double speak made famous in the book "1984" is well under way. Earmarks are not earmarks if they are put in bills first. What a crock. Wasteful spending is still unchanged. Tax cheats in the federal government are getting ready to judge and prosecute those who do what they have already done.
Stay alert, be vigilant and may God Bless America – while I can still say it.
