As our country continues to face tough economic times, all of us should be concerned with President Barack Obama's pledge to spend more money on omnibus legislative bills. These bills will place a heavy burden on large and small business owners. Furthermore, they would violate the fundamental rights of us law-abiding taxpayers. The president should recognize that healthcare reform doesn't require cradle-to-grave micromanagement or an overpowering federal government.
Congress and governors should wake up. They should observe the countries that have had socialized medicine for years and demonstrated abject failure. The United Kingdom and Canada are two of the worst examples. The president should provide an example of a success story of a democratic country that has a healthcare system we would envy.
Many doctors are coming to this country to share their skills. How many of them are fleeing to a socialized society? In our country we have quick access to sophisticated medicines and medical procedures.
The truth is the president could cite no such example. His duty to the country would be to shelve his inefficient socialized health-care plan.
