Hart's One Stop, 727-938-5364: Anglers have been taking trout in good numbers along the Intracoastal Waterway north of the Dunedin Causeway to Tarpon Springs. The grass beds around the spoil islands lining the channel h have been most productive. Fish to 17 inches have been typical, but huge fish, some as large as 28 inches, have been caught. The better bite has been early and late in the day, with live shrimp and sardines under popping corks producing best.

Holy Mackerel Tackle, 727-547-9889: Chad from the shop and a fishing buddy recently made the trip to St. Joseph Sound, off Dunedin, and fishing the Intracoastal Waterway spoil islands took a number of trout to 18 inches and a few to better than 22 inches. They used live shrimp and sardines free-lined and under popping corks. The area has been a hot trout spot of late.

Pier 60, 727-462-6466: Mackerel have moved in and there have been plenty of fish to go around. Most have been 12 to 17 inches, with a few up to 22 inches caught. Clark's silver spoons and Gotcha Plugs have been working well, along with live shrimp and sardines under floats. The bite is up and down throughout the day, as schools move whiting casting distance of the pier. Good numbers of silver trout and whiting are being landed. Most have been 10 to 14 inches, taking live and frozen shrimp well.

Redington Long Pier, 727-391-9398: Trout fishing has been good, through fish have been on the small side. Still, there have been decent numbers of fish to 16 inches landed at times. Live shrimp and sardines under floats or free-lined, have been working best. Sheepshead fishing has been on, with fish 12 to 16 inches reported by anglers dropping cut shrimp and fiddler crabs around rocks and pilings. Scraping barnacles from pilings to chum the water has been the trick to getting the fish started.

Denny B's Bait and Tackle, 813-885-9811: A lot of anglers from the north have been traveling to the top of Tampa Bay for the reds. Fish to 24 inches have been between Rocky Creek and Double Branch Creek. There have been fish on the flats and inside the creeks around oyster bars and docks. Live shrimp and creek chubs have been good baits, though gold spoons and Berkley Gulp Strips have been productive, as well. Mobbly Bay flats have been another area to target. Fish to 22 inches have been common, with some to just oversized landed.
