I have some suggestions regarding appointments to the utility-regulating Florida Public Service Commission.
First, no corporate executives should be appointed, especially any who have led utilities.
Next, no ex-politicians should be appointed because they merely serve as rubber stamps for the utility executives. They are virtual puppets of the utilities.
Instead, consumer advocates and consumer-friendly people should be named to the PSC. Also, union members, but not union bosses, should be on the commission. The rank and file would serve the public interest.
Combat veterans, including wounded vets, should be on the PSC, but no officers, though. Other disabled people, who know the true cost of living, should be on the PSC, too.
The PSC needs people who will serve the public interest. People who would seek to block a rate increase for a nuclear power plant.
