Some Bright House Customers To Experience Rate Hike

Published: March 4, 2009

NEW PORT RICHEY - Price increases could show up soon on the bills of some Bright House Networks customers in Pasco County with cable TV or Internet service.

But many subscribers with bundled packages of multiple services will be spared from any rate hike, according to Joe Durkin, senior director of corporate communications for Bright House.

Customers with only a single "standalone" service could pay up to $3 more a month starting this month, Durkin explained.

That would price basic cable TV service at $52.49 a month, up from $49.49. Premium cable channels such as HBO and Showtime will cost $1 more a month.

It's the first price increase in three years for Bright House's Road Runner high-speed Internet services, Durkin said. "Yet the levels of speed and service have grown exponentially over the years," he noted.

Digital Combo Plus and Digital Combo subscribers won't see any changes on their bills, Durkin emphasizes. The combo-plus package bundles all three Bright House offerings - digital cable TV, digital phone and high-speed Internet access. Combo packages mix and match two of the three products.

"Most customers have two or more services from Bright House," Durkin reported Wednesday.

"Bright House Networks continues to be one of the best entertainment and communication values for customers in our market," Durkin commented.

A night at the movie theater could cost nearly $50 for tickets alone for a family of four, he said.

Bright House provides stay-at-home alternatives, such as video on demand and more channels with high-definition pictures, Durkin added. Many extras come at no additional cost.

"Bright House Networks continues to keep price increases to a minimum while delivering state-of-the-art entertainment experience and fulfilling customers communications needs," Durkin said.
