HUDSON - A recent Junior Achievement program helped build bridges between generations.
The CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D. Enrichment Center in Hudson hosted "Connecting Elders with Kids."
The nonprofit JA organization tries to provide children with positive role models and bring the real world to them, organizers explain.
The intergenerational program in West Pasco first began in 2003, Greg Giordano, one of the guests, recalled. Giordano, the chief legislative assistant to state Sen. Mike Fasano, serves on the JA board and has taught JA courses in schools since 1988.
"It is great to see it still going strong six years later," Giordano remarked about the intergenerational event.
Senior volunteers Joan Barry, Sylvia Miller, Ethel Miller and Madelaine Woodman teamed up with teen teachers from Hudson High School and second graders from Hudson Elementary School.
Fasano also dropped by the event, as did Dan Paasch, representing U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis.
"What a great day!" Anna Stump marveled in an e-mail note as the parent involvement assistant at Hudson Elementary.
