Laid Off, Not Fired

I am objecting to the terminology used in a news item in your Jan. 28 editions. The 22 Pasco County employees were not "fired," which would indicate a job performance issue. They were, instead, laid off. This is not a negative reflection on the employees.
I would appreciate a correction at your earliest convenience. It was correctly reported in The Tampa Tribune.
