Regarding Rich Lowry's column on World War II and the New Deal, if it hadn't been for the WPA and the CCC we wouldn't have had jobs of any kind. So I would advise Lowry to see the whole picture before declaring what got us through the Depression.
I served in the Marines during the war, and, yes, the war did help end the Depression. There was, however, no better president than FDR.
