The "boo-boos" Rich Lowry suggested in his op-ed page column as Bush's biggest have almost nothing to do with his major blunders. To think otherwise is to be delusional.
Bush had 63 briefings to warn him about terrorist attacks, but they couldn't get him to pay attention. They sent the memo "Bin Laden determined to attack in the United States" but he did nothing.
There were several memos and e-mails warning of looming threats to the economy. He ignored all of those as well.
Katrina. They sat him down at a meeting and told him the hurricane was coming and it was big. He ignored that, too. The day the levies broke, he was with John McCain in Arizona celebrating John's birthday. Did he fly back to D.C. to tend to the disaster he had failed to prepare for? No. The next day he went to California to play guitar with some rock band.
Condie? The day the levies broke she went to a Broadway musical. The next day she went shopping for shoes.
Water boarding has been a war crime throughout history. Our government prosecuted Japanese for using it in World War II and prosecuted our own soldiers for using it in Vietnam. War crimes.
