Regarding the news article "Economic Issues to Top Tarpon Springs News in 2009," in your Dec. 27 North Pinellas edition, I would like to make a correction.
A quote in the article implied I had made a negative comment about the previous city manager, Ellen Posivach. In the interview with your reporter, I stated that the city will feel the impacts of the current economic times and that the city will continue to do more with less. Our current projects will not be idle.
When asked about the changes made in 2008, the turnover of a new city manager was significant for this last year. Interim City Manager Mark LeCouris has been working diligently to fill Ms. Posivach's position. He has developed an excellent relationship with the businesses and residents of the city.
Our city government is used to change and is moving forward. In the years Ms. Posivach served the city of Tarpon Springs, she served the residents of the city well. We would not have the healthy reserves and ability to weather these economic times without Ms. Posivach's expertise and leadership.
