Wrong Fight

As I read the Dec. 24 letter to the editor from Rich Howard, "Keep Fighting," in which he spoke out against abortion, gay marriage and "public handouts," I thought to myself that abortion is the choice of the woman.

Gay marriage is between two people who love each other, and as for public handouts, insurer AIG received a healthy dose of taxpayer dollars and wasted it.

As for Howard's citing of atheists telling people how and where they can pray, no atheist has told me I can't pray or read the Bible.

These, however, are petty topics compared to what the Obama administration is facing, primarily record unemployment, foreclosures, bankruptcies, plant closings and retailers closing their doors. The Bush administration has thrown taxpayer dollars at Wall Street and greedy auto and oil company executives instead of Main Street.

Crime is on the rise because things are getting worse and people are becoming desperate. We must fight, but for the important issues that deeply affect our way of life.

Just look at the evening news and see what is happening to the American people.
