TRINITY - Hey, kids, let's put on a show! Rotary Club of Trinity will present the play "Sylvia" next month as a fundraiser to support children's organizations in the area.

The curtain will go up at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey, according to spokeswoman Rebecca Bennett, program manager of Pasco Kids First for Healthy Families Pasco-Hernando.

Money from ticket sales will go to local nonprofit organizations such as PACE Center for Girls, Pasco Kids First, and Youth and Family Alternatives.

Local restaurants, including Boulevard Beef and Ale, are offering discounts to theater patrons who want to add dinner to their evening for those that show their tickets to the event.

Tickets for the play, $20 each, can be purchased by calling Ray Ford at 727-375-0811 or Becky Bennett at 727-967-7509.

Dee Ford will direct a cast of area actors in the one-night performance. She is the wife of a Rotarian and was more than happy to volunteer her time for a worthy purpose.

Ford has directed numerous theater productions, including Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park," for which she received the Director of the Year Award from the Carrollwood Players, Tampa's oldest community theater company. She has also received awards as an actress.

"Sylvia," the complicated and abandoned dog in the play's title, will be portrayed by Karen Bray. Sylvia is a dog who can talk.

Greg will be played by Marty Simon. The complex character is having a mid-life crisis. His job suddenly seems pointless and then Sylvia comes into his life.

Ginger King will bring to life the character of Kate, Greg's wife.

Rounding out the cast will be Tony Panaccio and Kevin Kobasko.
