HUDSON - A generous West Pasco couple and a Hudson senior center are making beautiful music together.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Hamill have donated an antique baby grand piano to the CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D., Enrichment Center in Hudson, Caryl Melancon, public relations coordinator for Community Aging and Retirement Services, explains.
Susan Hamill, who serves as the secretary of CARES board of directors, said she wanted to present the piano to the Musunuru Center because "I knew how much they would appreciate it."
The Hamills acquired the piano 11 years ago. The maple Steck was made in 1928 in Germany and still has the original works.
Steck pianos were all made to order and were not mass produced. The George Steck Piano Company was established in 1857 in Gotha, Germany, and was an affiliate of the famous Steck Company, in New York State.
The CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D., Center is planning a special recital in January to showcase the Steck piano.
