NEW PORT RICHEY - Authorities are searching for a robber with a machete who held up a West Pasco Bank of America branch this morning.

No one was injured in the robbery at the banking center at 5923 S.R. 54, according to Kevin Doll, spokesman for the Pasco Sheriff's Office. The suspect fled on foot behind the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Deputies first received a call about the robbery at 9:48 a.m., preliminary information shows.

The suspect is described as a white male about 35 - 45 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighing about 200 pounds.

He was wearing dark pants, a green Army-type jacket with a backpack underneath, a black wool cap on his head and gloves, and had a plastic mask covering his face.

Anyone who may have seen the suspect or who has any information about the robbery is asked to contact the Pasco Sheriff's Office immediately, Doll said.
