I totally agree, almost, with the Feb. 7 letter to the editor from Joan Atkins of Palm Harbor on her concerns over the Obama administration's approach to national security. The exception is when, in response to Defense Secretary Robert Gates' concerns that President Barack Obama might allow the nation's deterrent to possible nuclear attack from North Korea, China, Iran or even Russia erode Atkins wrote, "There is always hope the president will listen."
Has Atkins considered the possibility the president knows exactly what he's doing and actually desires the outcome she, Secretary Gates and I are afraid of? Every foreign policy statement the president makes favors those we consider our enemies. He wants to talk to Iran and has apologized to the Arab terrorists and Palestinians.
