An article in your Jan. 21 edition said the cost to extend Ridge Road from Moon Lake to U.S. 41 was $125 million, and it would provide a much-needed evacuation corridor for West Pasco residents.
An interchange at the Suncoast Parkway would have to be built from scratch, which would be expensive, $71.3 million. So one must ask why this interchange wasn't roughed in at the original construction of the highway.
In addition, if Ridge Road is to be a true evacuation road it should not stop at U.S. 41 but should continue east to I-75. It makes little sense to stop West Pasco evacuation traffic at U.S. 41, flooding this area if a real situation should develop.
