Hart's One Stop, 727-938-5364: The pier at the outfall canal of the Anclote power plant has produced some monster trout of late. A couple of fish to 27 inches were reported. A permit of 22 inches was taken there, along with pompano to 16 inches. Jumbo shrimp have been the best trout bait, while Doc's Goofy Jigs tipped with shrimp have been the best medicine for the permit and pompano. A couple of mackerel were reported at the outfall, the largest 26 inches. They were taken on live sardines. A 29-inch cobia was landed and released.

Salonika's Bait and Tackle, 727-849-6377: The bridge on U.S. 19 over the Cotee River has been producing good numbers of sheepshead. Fish 12 to 15 inches have been taken by anglers fishing frozen sand fleas or shrimp around bridge pilings. Some reported landing 10 to 12 fish.

One Stop Bait and Tackle, 727-842-5610: The pompano bite has been good at the Anclote power plant outfall. Anglers fishing the pier have taken lots of fish 12 to 15 inches. Silly Willy jigs in yellow and white and tipped with shrimp have been tops. The canal also is turning up a few mackerel. Fish of 22 and 24 inches were landed on live sardines and a Clark's silver spoon. The mangrove islands on the south side of the Anclote River mouth have been holding sheepshead to 17 inches. Live fiddler crabs and shrimp have been good baits, but sand fleas have been working as well.

Dunedin Bait and Tackle, 727-736-3474: The sea walls near the Dunedin city marina have been giving up some spotted trout to 20 inches. Live shrimp under floats and Berkley Gulp shad tails on jigs have been working well. Anglers wading chest-deep off the north side of the Dunedin Causeway have been taking trout to 20 inches and larger. Live shrimp and D.O.A. shrimp have been working, as are Berkley Gulp baits.

Holy Mackerel Tackle, 727-547-9889: An angler reported taking sea bass 10 to 13 inches fishing rocks and the spoils along the Intracoastal Waterway channel north of Dunedin Causeway. Fish were taking small live shrimp and squid. The area seems to be holding more sea bass than are typical.

Pier 60, 727-462-6466: Silver trout fishing is on. The winter species is taking frozen shrimp, and lots of anglers have been landing good numbers of fish to 14 inches. Whiting have been around in lesser numbers, with fish 10 to 13 inches typical. The bites have been off and on through the day. Trout have been a good bet at first light. Fish 13 to 18 inches have been taking live shrimp and sardines free-lined or fished under popping corks.

Redington Long Pier, 727-391-9398: Silver trout and whiting have been providing most of the action. Silvers to 14 inches have been taking live and dead shrimp. Whiting have been just a bit smaller and taking the same baits. A few spotted trout to 17 inches have been landed on live shrimp. Some flounder have been caught, with fish to 15 inches taking live shrimp fished on the bottom and bounced through sandy patches amidst grass bottom. Sheepshead have been running 12 to 16 inches, with shrimp an fiddler crabs dropped next to pilings or rocks turning up most of the fish. Some anglers have been landed eight to 10 fish an outing.
