NEW PORT RICHEY - Ingram's Pro Karate Center's annual Black Belt Extravaganza entertained a crowd of about 300 people last Saturday evening at River Ridge Middle-High School while allowing students to showcase their talents and be promoted to higher belts.
Highlights of the event included multiple board breaking demonstrations, a high-energy freestyle performance to the music of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and a contrastingly slow-motion comedy skit set to the country music classic "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys."
"It all went very well," said the karate center's owner, Sheri Ingram-Angwin. "Our main purpose of that show is to make the people who test that day get a moment to be spotlighted.
It can also let our students see their senseis do things and inspire them to achieve their goals."
Students who were testing to reach a more advanced belt prepared from 9 a.m. until the 5 p.m. performance.
Videos of the evening event can be purchased at Ingram's Pro Karate Center, at 4116 Little Road.
