Government does not "create" jobs. It can provide government-created work, financed by you and me, the taxpayer, which adds nothing to the Gross Domestic Product. Economic spending packages using tax dollars under the guise of a "bailout" are a government boondoggle with mostly self-serving results for the politicians.
People create real jobs that actually add to the GDP. They do this by creating and selling goods and services. Fewer tax dollars collected by government means more for businesses to expand and start new businesses.
I decided to come out of retirement at 72 and do my part. I wrote and published a book, making money for me and others in the publishing and retailing sectors. I took a sales job, selling affordable health care, as it is not only needed but makes things happen. Having been a sales person most of my adult life I know that "Nothing happens until someone sells something."
I have been through many economic downturns, all created by government. Government has never – repeat never – pulled our economy out of any poor economic condition it created. Only working people did.
