Although legislation that would bar State Farm from selling other forms of insurance in Florida might make state Sen. Mike Fasano and other legislators feel good, the result would be devastating to anyone who has State Farm insurance of any kind.
Auto insurance is one thing, but the cost of long-term care is based on your age when the policy is purchased. Because my wife and I purchased long-term health policies years ago, we would now have to pay another insurer twice as much for the coverage.
The last thing older people need is government increasing our costs for everything. After all, if State Farm wants to charge too much for property insurance people will just stop buying it.
