Some of the best skaters in the county are heading to Port Richey later this month to give area residents a chance to embark on a little musically infused globetrotting during Spinnations Family Roller Center's 12th Annual Holiday Skating Show.

Presented by the Florida Skating Academy, "Journey Around the World" is slated as a two-hour matinee performance on Dec. 13 that brings together the shared fluidity of roller dance-figure skating and melodic numbers from a score of regional influences.

"It's a very unique show," said Angela Serini, publicist for the Florida Skating Academy. "We are the only club in Pasco County that does anything like this. We invite the USA Roller Sports champions from the different clubs to come down and entertain."

Musical scores and performance attire will be aimed to take audience members around the globe from country to country with songs like "New York, New York," "Argentine Tango" and "Arabian Nights."

Among the performers will be Erica Sheley and Siobhan Boismier, both with the Spinnations-affiliated Florida Skating Academy, who recently returned from the Roller Figure Skating World Championships in Freiburg, Germany.

Sheley placed seventh in the Junior World Class Figure division and Boismier finished ninth in World Class Pairs with partner Eric Hadley.

Other skaters from the region will include U.S. Senior World Pairs Team members Alex Poland and Mackenzie Wriedt of Sarasota, 12-time national champion John Burchfield of Kissimmee, 2009 National Dance Champion Meghan Boyce of Orlando, Juvenile Boys Singles Champion Alex Hinderscheid of Tampa and Elementary Pairs Champions Lorenzo and Francesca Bertogilio of Sarasota.

There is never a bad seat in the house, said Serini, and much of the seating is right on the skating surface, meaning an up close and personal experience.

Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children. Advanced discounted tickets can be purchased on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spinnations.

Those rates are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.

Because of sellouts in years past, tickets are recommended to be purchased in advance. Doors open for those with advanced tickets at 1 p.m. If not already sold out, those buying tickets at the door are admitted at 1:45 and the show starts at 2.

For more information on the Dec. 13 holiday show and tickets, call Angela Serini at 727-207-4071.
