HUDSON - The fifth annual "Search for the Regional Idol" drew some 200 spectators to the recent benefit which raised more than $4,300 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
The $4,359.34 raised will go toward the hospital's Relay for Life team in the Hudson Relay coming up this Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, at Hudson High School. The relay helps the American Cancer Society.
Regional staff members belted out some of their favorite tunes in the talent contest.
Carmen Hoyne from Regional's emergency department teamed up with her three daughters, Caitlyn, Caleigh and Christena, to take first place in the talent show.
Second place went to Dusty Walton, also from the emergency department.
Jon Fugit from the hospital's materials management department took home third place.
Blimpies donated submarine sandwiches, which spectators could buy to support the cause. The Regional Medical Center medical staff chief, Dr. Ronald Gilberg, presented a check for $1,000 at the event in support of the fundraiser.
