My journey began in January 2006, when I was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast. After avoiding risky behavior and unhealthy food and remaining activity all my life, I couldn't believe my ears.

Having earned a doctorate, I felt I knew what was best. I was certain that treatment would be a lost cause. After many months of pain and denial, however, I recalled the words of hope and encouragement for treatment from Dr. Rodolfo Dy, who gave me the diagnosis.

When I went back to him he was shocked to see me. After further testing it became apparent the cancer had spread to my bones. He referred me to Dr. Gajanan Kulkarni of Pasco Hernando Oncology Associates. After my first visit I knew I had made the right decision. Dr. Kulkarni and his wonderful staff gave me my life back. Radiation oncologist Dr. V. Rao Emandi of Cancer Care Center of Florida also took great care of me.

These physicians are assets to people with cancer. I do not know where I would be without their expertise and compassion.
