An uncaring person left a puppy to fend for itself April 9 in Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park. He had been abused and was afraid of everyone so I named him Shy.
With the help of friends I eventually got his trust and took Shy to the park's Starkey Environmental Education Center. Shy, renamed Tigger because of his markings, now has a loving home with a man named Trevor. So there is a happy ending for this puppy who had been abused and starved. I want to thank Pam and Richard, Katie, Peggy, Elaine and the Starkey staff for helping this lovely puppy.
If you don't want a domestic animal don't leave it to fend for itself in the wild. Take it to the SPCA or Pasco County Animal Services, where they will try to find it a good home. Trying to catch a frightened animal, especially one that is starving and has protruding bones, is not a pleasant experience.
