J.W. Mitchell High School student Kelsey Dunn and the other volunteers who cleaned up along Strauber Memorial Highway, as you reported in some of your April 1 editions, should be commended for their efforts.
Anyone who has traveled that stretch of road is familiar with the dumping problem along it. It is encouraging to hear about young people like Kelsey who take action to improve their communities.
Roadside littering appears to be on the rise where I live as well. It angers me when drivers toss food wrappers from their vehicles and when I have to dodge broken glass on the sidewalks.
I have wanted to organize a neighborhood cleanup and Kelsey Dunn's project has given me additional motivation to get started.
