NEW PORT RICHEY - Bay News 9 viewers on the Bright House cable system might notice some changes by next month with the scheduled departure from the airwaves of long-time Pasco reporter Michelle Kay.
Kay will remain with the company, but in a Bright House Networks job instead of a reporting capacity.
Still based here in the area, Kay says she will continue to make appearances at Pasco charitable functions. She also works the comedy club circuit.
She is, for example, serving as the master of ceremonies for the inaugural Music Fest. The Sunday, Sept. 28, event will raise funds for the Angelus, a home for severely handicapped people east of Hudson.
Kay describes her new responsibilities as an "exciting new job, just for a different part of the company."
In the meantime, Bright House Networks is advertising a job opening for "Reporter - Pasco County Bureau." Bay News 9 operates seven bureaus, including the Pasco operation based in the Bright House storefront at the Southgate shopping center in New Port Richey.
The job description reads in part, "We're looking for an 'A' block reporter for the Bay News 9 Pasco County bureau. Just thirty minutes north of Tampa, Pasco is one of the country's fastest growing counties. Our Pasco reporter will live and work near the Gulf shoreline and a west central location filled with numerous lakes and rivers."
Bright House Networks officials were asked about reasons for the changes, but they did not give any response.
