School bus crash
HUDSON - Paramedics were on scene Friday morning at a "minor" crash involving a school bus and another vehicle, a Pasco County Fire Rescue dispatcher said.
The crash occurred just after 7:30 a.m. at Hudson Avenue and Cobra Way.
Paramedics were evaluating the students on the school bus. It wasn't immediately clear how many children were aboard.
The westbound lane of Hudson was blocked, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
25-year sentence
NEW PORT RICHEY - The last of five men charged with killing a reputed drug dealer in June 2005 was sentenced to 25 years in prison this week.
In a deal with prosecutors, Adam Jones, 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Jones also pleaded guilty to a 2007 assault charge that happened while he was in jail, though that won't affect his prison time. Jones will get credit for the time he has already spent in jail. He's been there since July 2005.
Homicide in Holiday
HOLIDAY - The 24-year-old man found dead Wednesday afternoon in his Holiday Lake Estates home was the victim of homicide, sheriff's officials said Thursday.
Relatives of V.L. "Vince" Santoro discovered his body at 3626 Brompton Drive about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy performed Thursday at the Pasco-Pinellas Medical Examiner's Office concluded his death was a slaying, sheriff's office spokesman Kevin Doll said.
Anyone with information about this case may call Detective Christopher Beaman at 1-800-854-2862, ext. 7841.
Husband found guilty
NEW PORT RICHEY - By 2006, Karen Lane had endured years of unreported manipulation, threats and abuse at the hands of her husband, Keith.
Still, she wavered about divorcing her spouse of 43 years.
During a final tirade on March 28, 2006, he pointed a .45-caliber Glock semiautomatic at his wife and fired. The bullet missed, but Keith Lane, a former police officer, wound up in jail, charged with attempted first-degree murder.
On Wednesday, a Pasco County jury needed only an hour of deliberation to find him guilty. Now, the 65-year-old faces a minimum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 24.
