In his Sept. 6 op-ed page column James Hibbs writes, "If Palin were vetted properly the negatives would have been so obvious she would never have been considered for the position of vice president."
John McCain chose Sarah Palin in haste. His Republican Party denied his first choice, Sen. Lieberman. There was no time for thorough vetting. It is reported that McCain had only met Palin twice in his life. What does this say about McCain's judgment in the most important decision he has had to make thus far?
I don't know anything about Sarah's qualifications to be vice president. I know that she is a self-described "hockey mom," which she equates with "a pit bull wearing lipstick." I know that she is a moose hunter and can field dress a moose all by herself.
As to her knowledge of foreign policy, I have only one bit of dubious information. A Fox News commentator said, "Sarah should be pretty good at foreign policy. After all, she lives up there in Alaska and that's right next to Russia."
If McCain thinks that Palin appeals to women who voted for Hillary Clinton, he's delusional. Never.
We think his choice is like a bad joke. We get it but it isn't funny. The thought of having this woman a heartbeat away from the Presidency is insulting.
