In James Hibbs recent column in The Suncoast News he points out that Gov. Sarah Palin said, "If 'under God' was good enough for the Founding Father, it's good enough for me." He then adds, "There are just so many wonderful things wrong with that answer."
Why doesn't he explain himself? Hibbs rants that either the American people or John McCain are idiots. He tells us that on Nov. 4 either America or McCain will be proven the fools. Calling people names is never productive.
Young Mr. Hibbs called Gov. Palin "grossly under qualified." Yet, her executive background is more extensive than Sen. Obama's. Hibbs dismisses Gov. Palin's idea of drilling Alaskan oil as "no solution at all." What should we do?
And what about Sen. Obama's vice presidential choice? Well, Sen. Biden is on record as a plagiarist in two previous campaigns. What more, Biden lied about an academic scholarship. He lied about his standing in the top half of his class. He lied about the receipt of an award. And, he also lied about how many degrees he had.
When asked about his prevaricating by a New York Times reporter, Biden said, "I exaggerate when I'm angry." Do we really want someone who's deceptive as a vice president? Do we want someone who easily loses his patience?
As for the top of the ticket, Sen. Obama has voted "present" more than 100 times in his brief tenure in the Senate. Harking back to, "Who do you want answering that 3 a.m. phone call to the White House?" I suggest we surely don't want someone who answers "present."
