NEW PORT RICHEY - Brigades of some 1,600 volunteers hope to make a clean sweep of the county next weekend.
More than 27 groups will fan out across Pasco County for the annual Coastal Cleanup campaign on Sept. 20.
Supplies have been distributed to captains, instructions have been relayed and Pasco volunteers are eager to get started, says Jennifer Seney, Pasco County's recycling coordinator.
"If we grow too much larger folks will be sharing bags," Seney said in a press release. "Still, there's no such thing as too many volunteers."
Groups are slated to work in the Holiday area at Anclote Gulf Park fishing pier, Anclote Key Preserve, Anclote River Park, Anclote Gulf Park, Anclote sandbar, Gulf Harbor channels, North Anclote Island, Strauber Memorial Highway and Baillie's Bluff Road.
Hudson crews will concentrate on Signal Cove canals and streets, along with the Sea Pines neighborhood and canals.
In the New Port Richey and Port Richey areas, attention will be lavished on Moon Lake Park, Banberry Road, all city parks and streets, Durney Key and Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park.
Pasco County schoolyards are part of the campaign, as well as Kent Grove Road in the Shady Hills area.
