First Music Fest to benefit the Angelus

HUDSON - Local artists will band together for the first Music Fest on Sunday, Sept. 28, to raise funds for the Angelus house for severely handicapped individuals.

The new event from 2 to 6 p.m. also will serve as a memorial for Victoria K's grandfather Doug Thomas. Thomas died recently after years of guiding her career since she was about 4 years old and helped her become a Nashville recording artist.

Victoria K will headline the benefit show at the Angelus Pavilion, 12413 Hudson Ave., along with area performers N-Kahootz, Wiley Fox, Jenny Rimmer, Katie Donahue and more.

"Our family would like to thank all of our friends and business associates who have been so caring in the time of our loss," Victoria K said in an e-mail dispatch. "My grandfather, Doug Thomas, was an amazing man, and his passing has left a large hole not only in our family but in many others, including The Angelus.

"He requested no services, as he never wanted any focus on him. He dedicated his time to my career, the Cancer societies and The Angelus. My grandfather loved The Angelus and what the organization accomplishes and stands for at all times.

The nonprofit agency aids people afflicted with cerebral palsy and not able to care for themselves, benefit organizers explained.

The residents all use wheelchairs.

"Come out and celebrate The Angelus and the life of my grandfather," Victoria K urged residents.

All donations and proceeds go directly to The Angelus.

Benefit organizers are asking for a $10 donation per carload for parking, along with any other amounts spectators care to give.
