NEW PORT RICHEY - A retired Pasco teacher, Glenn Kelm, recently earned the Points of Light Award from Gov. Charlie Crist for Kelm's service to local soup kitchens and food banks.
The Pasco County Commission last month saluted Kelm with a proclamation honoring him for receiving the volunteerism award.

When the Volunteer Way Food Bank began in 1998, Kelm became a board member and treasurer. He took the responsibility for inventory control of all commodity shipments during his three days a week at the food bank.
Kelm has an "outstanding work ethic and always goes out of his way to assist others," the county proclamation reads. "The less fortunate families in Pasco County are well served with his dedication and the quality of work he performs in conjunction with his positive attitude."
